Our 30-Year History
Founded in 1994 to combat youth delinquency in Monrovia and Duarte, Boys & Girls Club of the Foothills (BGCF) provides a safe, positive space for young people outside of school.
BGCF started as a small facility serving 25-50 kids daily, and has since grown to include five TK-6 elementary-based sites, a standalone teen center, and multiple outreach sites, now serving up to 1000 youth each day.
Working closely with teachers and caregivers, BGCF offers nationally recognized, evidence- based programs with a strong educational and mentoring focus, empowering youth who may have never envisioned a future to make positive choices and believe in their ability to succeed. While other providers may offer adequate services and keep kids safe, BGCF walks alongside our members for their entire adolescent journey. From the time they first walk through our doors to the moment they toss up that graduation cap – and sometimes beyond – we celebrate their milestones, share in their disappointments, and see them through some of the most formative years of their lives. Unlike many drop-in centers, BGCF prioritizes consistent attendance and employs highly trained and engaged staff – both factors proven to enhance long-term outcomes.
The Club’s steady, managed growth has earned recognition from Boys & Girls Clubs of America, reinforcing its commitment to providing high-quality, impactful programs that encourage young people to reach their full potential.
